Scrabblings

By George, I haven't updated this in a good long while, shame on me.
Where to start? Oh, yes. Life in general, what, what. I am now 22 and don't really feel all that different despite my 19 year old friend calling me old. To which I promise that when he reaches 20 I shall exceedingly enjoy laughing my ass off at him as he sulks for his lost teenage years. I didn't do much for the occasion, apart from go out for food. Me and Danny went to As You Like It in Jesmond which is a rather eclectic restaurant and bar, damnably expensive as well and the little darling paid for it all. The next day I went to see 2012 with the other half and quite enjoyed it, despite it being slightly worrying. Not that I believe the world is going to end in 2012 but you know. The sun will never set on this Empire and the like.
I went home for a few days to see the parentals and the canine and enjoyed that too. Went out for yet more food with grandparents and received some money which should see me over until the government decide to give me some extra.

University is wrapping up to the close for Christmas and as I'm sat here writing this I should be working on one essay, a piece of Prose and a ten minute script. Oh, also revising for an exam. The joys. I will get around to it, no worries.

Writing, as always is being bulldozed by my addiction to my current roleplay. I'm pretty sure me and *Raini-Tempest could fill several novels and still be going strong. Hopefully, she will be posting some first chapters soon so that you lovely people will be able to see what we're babbling on about. I also recommend you go take a gander at her pictures of said characters. Superb. Plans for the afternoon may entail watching a film and editing said logs.

Latest acquisitions! A goldish mini pocket watch necklace, it functions and everything and is very pretty.
Also a pair of drainpipe trousers, thick band black and white striped. I'm going for the jail house look, or the Beetlejuice, whichever works best.

I think that's about it for today. Farewell and pip, pip!

Contentium

Write about places you've never been. I don't know if that's strictly true or not. I mean a writer's greatest tool is their imagination, and if you can't imagine foreign places, like another city, country, continent, world, universe, what good are you?

Going back to writing by myself is hard, after co-authoring that is. I have to rely on my own head to take me places and make events that other people would actually like to read about. I'm bad with ideas that way. They blossom, a snap shot and it's like a bell toll of inspiration. But then when I've written that down the flow dies and I'm left with a sepia photograph which could tell a thousand word story but with no...story.

I know that writer's find writing hard, what would be the point otherwise. I find it incredibly frustrating though that I can have so many people and places in my head but they don't seem to like the light of day. Maybe my head is too comfortable even with the crowding issue. I'm flicking between modern Hungary, 80's New Orleans and a planet in a far off part of the Universe where machines reminisce the 19th century and the future.

They say you have to show a story instead of telling it. But surely you have to know the storyline before you can mess with the words, weave them into a whole that could be as clear as any eye blink...I wish I could crack open my head and let it all spill out onto the page. Messy, but effective.

October Yey!

Journal Entry: Sat Oct 3, 2009, 7:24 AM
  • Mood: Happy

It's finally October, officially the best month of the entire year for the most important holiday! That's right, Halloween. I have my costume sorted already and if Danny can oragnise this party then it shall be epic.

Uni is in full swing and the alcohol is flowing. Green Chartreuse and red Absinthe <3. Me and Danny had plans to go to Whitby this last week but that fell through so we had a mini party instead. Hopefully this Thursday we're going to go to a poisonous plant exhibition AND then the week after go to Whitby. I also think we're supposed to be writing up an essay plan for handing in but that's not as important.

I have new music and new books so I'm pretty happy right about now. I've discovered Breaking Benjamin and I love their Phobia album.
On the book front I have Geek Love by Katherine Dunn and Vellum by Hal Duncan to read along with Uni texts.

Mine and *Raini-Tempest's rp is going great. We've even crossed it with one of her story worlds just to be geeks. It's coming to a close now but I'm sure we won't have a problem coming up with other places to go with it.

On the submission front I've started submitting an old note rp that me and ~terrible-beauty started a long time ago. It's quite long so expect a lot of separate entries.

Random - It is extremely windy today, around 65mph according to the BBC and I nearly got blown away several times on my trip to the library.

All Set Up

Just an update on what's going and the like.

Moved into the new flat last Tuesday, what a event that was. I didn't realise how much CRAP we had. My parents had to take a load home because it just wasn't going to fit in this smaller place. I'm all unpacked and settled anyway. My room is a bit on the small side but it's cool. I have my computer and a bed so I'm happy.

I need to get a new computer chair though, sitting on this dining chair is making my back ache.

Finally got the internet sorted yesterday after a multitude of phone calls. Man, I hate ringing people, especially places like Virgin that keep you on hold for ages. Anywho.

I watched FFVII - Advent Children a couple of hundred times while I was without net. <3

On the writing front, all my old projects have been bulldozed for the moment in favour of a new story that me and *Raini-Tempest are co-authoring, along side some guest appearances of other people. It's RP based so it's quite long already. 160+ pages I think. It's supernatural romance of course :P The best kind. If you visit Laura's page you shall be graced with some lovely pictures of our characters.
